Unsung | Week 7

"Unsung Guidance"

Running short on time?

Feel free to just use these questions rather than the entire guide.

1. Read Romans 12:4–8 and 1 Corinthians 12:4–6. Do you know what gifts God has given you? How can you determine the unique ways God works through you?
2. Read 1 Corinthians 12:15–21. How have you seen the truth of these verses lived out in your family? In your church? In your workplace?
3. Take time to affirm the gifts and abilities you see in other members of your group. Then, pray for each other, asking God to fill you with a desire and willingness to let Him use you in a special way this week.

Group Reconnect

• Talk about your favorite fictional dad from television, movies, books, etc. What do you admire about him?
• June 21 is the first official day of summer in the Northern Hemisphere. Share a memory of a meaningful summer taste or scent.

Message Recap

All four gospels document the miracle of Jesus feeding thousands of people with a small, simple offering. Matthew records Jesus asking a simple yet powerful question: “How many loaves do you have?” 

God gives each of us gifts and abilities we can share with those around us. Imagine what could happen if we were willing to offer ourselves in service, inviting God to use us to impact the world!

• What you place in the hands of God matters and multiplies.

Discussion Questions

• Read Romans 12:4–8 and 1 Corinthians 12:4–6. Are you aware of the gifts God has given you? How can you determine the unique ways God works through you?
• Read 1 Corinthians 12:15–21. How have you seen the truth of these verses lived out in your family? In your church? In your workplace?
• What’s your favorite Bible story of God using an unlikely person to accomplish His plan? How do these stories encourage you?
• Jodi Hickerson taught that God wants to involve us in miracles today. Do you agree? What might that look like?
• Take time to affirm the gifts and abilities you see in other members of your group. Then, pray for each other, asking God to fill you with a desire and willingness to let Him use you in a special way this week.

Live it Out

• Think about all that God has given you, both tangible and intrinsic gifts. As you thank Him for each one, consider how you are holding them—with closed fists or open palms?
• Read Proverbs 11:24. How can you be more generous this week with what God has given you?
• Do you need a miracle right now? Tell God everything in your heart, and ask Him for what you need. Pause to listen for His response. Consider sharing this need with your small group leader or a trusted friend.
• Is there another way God is calling you to live out the message this week?
