Message Recap
Throughout the book of Esther, God is never named, but He is ever-present. Esther and Mordecai are two unlikely heroes willing to participate in God’s incredible work, trusting God even when they didn’t know the outcome. God also offers us opportunities to draw closer to Him and be His change agents in the world. If we want to model the heroic behavior of Esther and Mordecai, we can:
- Realize that we are set apart.
- Embrace the test.
- Take a risk of faith.
Discussion Questions
- Read Esther 2:5–11; 3:1–6; and 4:10–16. What stands out to you from Esther’s story? What new information did you learn?
- Read Romans 12:2. How does this verse connect to the story of Mordecai and Esther? How can you apply it to your own life?
- Shawn Williams explained the connection between provision (receiving resources) and purpose (sharing the blessing). In what ways have you seen people use their blessings to bless others? How might you do the same?
- Shawn taught that heroes are born in the moments when someone is willing to trust God, taking a step without a guaranteed outcome. What steps of faith did Mordecai and Esther take? Have you ever witnessed unsung yet heroic moments in the lives of those around you?
- Is God calling you to take a step of faith this week, moving deeper into your God-given purpose?
- Close your time together by praising God, celebrating the ways He has used ordinary people in ordinary ways to create extraordinary outcomes in your lives.
-
Live it Out
- Read the entire book of Esther throughout the week. How might God be calling you to use your blessings to bless someone else? Is God calling you to take a step of faith this week?
- Memorize Romans 12:2. Consider the ways your life might reflect “disguise and compromise” more than Jesus’ unity and grace. If you sense God calling you to make a change, consider sharing it with a trusted friend who can support you in prayer.
