Group Reconnect
Listening Exercise: Practice listening to and with one another. In groups of two or three, take turns listening to one person share for two minutes about anything on their mind or heart. Focus prayerfully on the speaker, listening with curiosity and care. After sharing, pause for 30 seconds of silence; then, affirm what you heard. Avoid advising, fixing, and rescuing.

Message Recap
Shawn Williams reminded us of the importance of listening well before responding to the needs of others. He shared a biblical example of the Macedonian church selflessly reaching out to support the needs of the church in Jerusalem. They gave as much as they were able, out of joyful and generous hearts, modeling these truths:
- Giving is a privilege.
- Giving starts with God.
- Giving grows our hearts.
- Giving empowers the mission..
Discussion Questions
- Pastor Shawn said that when we serve others, it is wise to listen first. How would you define “active listening,” and what are the benefits? How does it feel when someone really listens to you?
- Read 2 Corinthians 8:1–15. Pastor Shawn taught that the kingdom of God has no borders. What does that statement mean to you?
- Shawn shared a story about a man who taught him about sacrificial, joyful generosity. Share a time when you witnessed this type of generosity.
- Long before God asks us to give, He asks us to receive. What’s one thing God offers that you struggle to fully accept? (examples: salvation, forgiveness, unconditional love, a fresh start)
- Reread 2 Corinthians 8:13–14. Explain how those in need can also have a lot to give. Have you experienced this personally?
- Read Proverbs 11:10. Close with a prayer of celebration for what God is doing in the local and global church. Pray for unity in the church and throughout the world. Ask God what He is growing in you during Celebration of Hope and how you might respond.
-
