Message Recap
Generosity has always been a marker of the Christian faith. The Bible mentions giving over 2000 times, not because God wants or needs our money, but because He cares about our hearts and wants what’s best for us. Dave Dummitt shared Rick Warren’s kingdom investment principles based on today’s passage:
- Ownership—God owns it all.
- Allocation—God gives each of us different amounts and types of resources.
- Accountability—God wants me to manage well what He has given me.
- Utilization—I can wisely use what I’m given rather than burying it.
- Motivation—Faith and love—not fear—should drive our financial decisions.
- Reward—The goal is not earthly riches but a relationship with our generous God.
Discussion Questions
- Think of the most generous person you know. In what ways are they generous? Do you know the reason for their unselfish attitude?
- Read Matthew 25:14–27. Which investment principle (see Message Recap) was new to you? How would you explain it to someone else?
- Which investment principle was most challenging? Why?
- Reread verse 21. What are some specific ways we can live out the truth of this verse?
- As we wrap up our series, More Than Money: Free to Live Generously, what’s been your most memorable lesson? How have you applied it to your life?
- Pray together for our church and for each person who committed to take a next step in generosity, that we would all have faith to trust God’s promise of provision.
Live it Out
- How has God been faithful to you in the past? As you praise Him for provision, recommit to the next step you chose during the weekend service, and fully place your future in His hands.
- Meditate on today’s passage, especially verse 21. Invite God to celebrate with you the ways you’ve been faithful and to challenge you in areas where you can grow.
