Nothing reveals more about your heart than how you spend money. Most people spend their money on themselves before sharing it with others, potentially leading to worry or bondage rather than kingdom blessings. Megan Marshman taught that we have a choice to make between two treasures (earthly or heavenly), two eyes (healthy/light or unhealthy/dark), and two masters (God or money).
Jesus never asked for money in any of His teachings. Instead, He desires the devotion of our hearts. In our self-focused culture, may we desire to be people who seek His kingdom first and choose to bless others.

Discussion Questions
- Do you remember when money started to matter to you? How did that moment affect your view of money?
- Read Matthew 6:19–24. In what specific ways do people try to serve both God and money? What are some possible outcomes?
- Read Matthew 6:33–34. Andy Stanley has said that most people live a lifestyle of
“Me-first living with leftover giving.” Do you agree with him? Why is it so hard to reverse the order?
- What heavenly treasures does God offer to us? How can a heavenly perspective affect the way we live now?
- How can being generous help you grow in your faith?
- Read Malachi 3:6–12. Put God’s promise (verse 10) in your own words. How have you experienced the blessings of a generous lifestyle?
Live it Out
- Ask God to reveal any areas where you’re living with a divided heart. What can you do this week to keep your eyes focused on Jesus?
- What step can you take this week to fully place your trust in God and be more open-handed with the resources God has given you?
