Message Recap
Pastor Dave finished our two-week series, Future Focus, with For the World today. Dave encouraged us that everybody needs a team. If we're going to make bold moves and take bold steps, we need people that will back us up and support us. We can't become all that God has called us to be without a team. It is in this mindset that we approach serving.
Dave challenged us to keep three things in mind as we pray and ask God to lead us to where we can be a part of the team.
First, Your Serving is Essential
Serving is essential to help us become all that God has called us to be, but it is also essential for the church to be all that God has designed her to be. In 1 Corinthians 12: 12-18, we read about the body and its many parts. And the thing is, every single part is essential for the body to function—the seen and the unseen parts. Each of us is essential to the building up of the church.
Second, Your Serving is Empowered by the Holy Spirit
The Bible not only tells us that we receive the gift of the Holy Spirit when we choose to follow Jesus, but we also receive gifts from the Holy Spirit. And these gifts are intended to be used in service to God (1 Peter 4: 10-11). When we go to serve God, we offer the little we have, and He infuses it and empowers it for service.
Lastly, Your Serving Makes an Eternal Difference
We can't know exactly what God will do with our gifts, but we can be confident He will use them to make an eternal impact. Pastor Dave shared the story of someone in our church praying that God would show them who their "one" for the day was, and soon after, he found himself being nudged to pray for a man in need. A small seed was planted that day in the heart of the man who received prayer.
