Message Recap

Are all religions good? Not necessarily (think cults and those that seek to control or abuse). But aside from the extremes, many religions seek to heal and help others. Kids, students, and adults alike wrestle with Jesus’ claim to be the “only way.” While it sounds exclusive, it points to the ultimate act of inclusivity: the cross.

Discussion Questions

Share your experience with each other regarding learning about other religions.  Are you someone who has done a deep dive and learned and investigated, or are you someone who has little knowledge of other religions?

What criteria should be used to determine whether a religion is "good" or not? How do these criteria apply to various religious traditions?

Can you think of examples where a religion has had a positive impact on individuals or communities? How do these examples challenge or support the idea that all religions are good?

In John 15, Jesus emphasizes love and self-sacrifice. How does this teaching compare to the core tenets of other religions? What makes Christian love unique?

How can Christians engage with and respect people of other religions while maintaining their belief in Jesus as the Way, the Truth and the Life? What practical steps can be taken to show respect and love?

Live it out

What are some ways that Christians can effectively communicate the exceptional nature of Jesus' message without dismissing or condemning other religions.  Do you have any relationships with people from other faith backgrounds that you can engage with in respectful and compassionate dialogue?
