The early church stood out. Their generosity, love, and relationships caused the world around them to ask a big question: Why? Why would a group of people choose to live this way? The church today is invited to regain the interdependent nature of the early church to fuel a radical and transformational movement to restore our families, cities, and world.
Discussion Questions
Think about someone you know who embodies the qualities of being a light in the world. What characteristics do they possess? How are they different from other people you know?
Reflect on a time when you experienced the transformative power of God's light in your life. How did it change you? In what ways did it reframe your view of what the world values?
How does the concept of "walking in the way of love" influence your daily interactions and decisions? How do you ensure your relationship with Jesus permeates your actions?
Reflect on Jon Tyson's statement about not hating the world but participating in it with the vision of Jesus. How hard or easy do you find this practice these days?
Has God brought to mind any specific people that are in your circles that you could BLESS intentionally this summer?
Live it out
Consider the concept of being a light in your group or community. What practical steps can you take to fulfill this role? Discuss with your small group how you can approach this collectively as a group.
